Christ stands before us, silent, still,
in perfect, fearless grace.
We taunt and jeer. Derision rules,
yet Peace is on His face.
His hands of mercy now are bound.
Foul tongues are loose instead,
spitting sharp as thicket’s thorns
forced onto His head.
His back, though bruised and beaten raw
by hands of kings and priests,
now bears the weight of sinful hordes
yet stands in utter Peace.
His brow bleeds tears of crimson deep
which robes Christ in their flow,
yet still He stands in perfect Peace
so we can surely know.
True Peace is not the gentle fruit
of meditative flight
but is the wine obedience pours
into the darkest night.
Peace is not cheap. It comes with cost,
adherence to God’s Will.
When one life proves, “Thy will be done,”
Peace shall that one life fill.
No, happiness is not the same
as deep abiding Peace.
Oft times while groaning in the pain
our hearts still find release.
For as the Savior stands this day
before all men of earth.
He proves obedience is the key
to a heart where Peace is birthed.
“But Jesus held his peace, and the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.”
Matthew 26:63 KJV
About Linda Watson Owen
Linda Watson Owen’s poetry is a delight for readers of all ages. Her writing offers a variety of themes and styles in poems that both entertain and inspire. As a pastor’s wife and former educator, she finds her own inspiration in life’s many blessings and challenges. Linda says, “It’s such a privilege to experience God’s unfailing love and presence in my own life as well as through the lives of my family, friends, and readers. I always marvel at our Lord’s gracious goodness and constant loving care. He has led and blessed me in so many ways, and I hope to honor Him by blessing others through the gifts He has entrusted to me. I sincerely hope and pray that the words I write, the words the Lord has planted in my mind, will speak to others hearts as they have my own. May the Light of His Love and great Salvation be the true passion of all our hearts, and the purpose in all of our days.” You are invited to visit her weekly column in the Poetry Corner at Ezraweb.com .

Touching words:
His brow bleeds tears of crimson deep
which robes Christ in their flow,
Poetic words that melts the heart of another poet…
…for truth that Christ gave His life, and His death gives us a hope of peace… A peace that comes with a cost…
