Thy light shines not in my darkest moment,
in the lost hour of my darkened heart.
My heart is lost in the depth of the world’s darkness,
but lifted up by Thy glory.
Let not my soul be cast down to the pit of despair,
but brought forth into Thy loving embrace.
I seek Thee, my God, yet my life is left in shadow,
as though You look not upon me.
My life is but disgrace, in the eyes of my Father’s people,
the chosen of His loving gifts.
Turn not Thy face from my downcast state, O man,
see and behold my shame.
Tremble in fear, at the state of my being, at the worthlessness,
the world has visited on me.
Yet You, my God, my loving Lord, turn Your eye upon me,
behold my humbled heart.
It is Thy hand, O Lord, that did bring me up in times past,
lifting me from the pit of the world.
I, even this worthless man, I seek Thy holy face, O Lord,
to stand in Thy grace once more.
Forgive this lowly man, the creature of Thy making,
that turned from Thy lighted way.
I have sought the way of the world, and downward have fallen,
fallen from the eye of my King.
Despair has become my constant companion, a darkened path,
to travel alone in sorrow.
I lift my heart to the Lord, and weep for shame,
forgive, O Lord, my turning away.
I shall cry aloud to the world, from the depth of my despair,
for the Lord shall hear my cry.
Mercy, I cry, my Lord and King, O Son of the most high God,
mercy for this wretched soul.
The Lord shall hear me, from the deepest pit of my despair,
He shall hear and answer my call.
Cleaning away the chains of my bondage, the shame and despair,
to shine in the darkness of my soul once more.
Seek me not in the house of the condemned,
but in the house of the living God.
For there it is, that the love of my Father,
shall dwell forever and ever.
Amen ….
About JesusPuppy
Born in Kansas, with only basic education and learning, Ed Pennewell sought a Godly life in the world, and from the sorrow there, has placed his thoughts to written words. Taking the name JesusPuppy while in the mission field, his greatest goal in life has been to show God’s love and light to all he meets. He places his heart in the things he writes, in hopes they touch an other’s life and bring them hope. JesusPuppy is a simple man, working as a carpenter while writing praise to the Lord, living on the Northwest coast of United States of America. This is well written and very moving. Your poetry style is unique and I rather like it.
You have a heart for the Father that shows in your writing.
