HISD is leaving the decision up to its teachers to decide whether to watch the speech and build a lesson plan around it. Teachers who are doing this, will send letters home to parents giving them the opportunity to opt out. Those letters began going out yesterday. The rest will go out today. The schools will provide alternate learning activities for the students who are opted out. If parents have any doubt, they can send a note to their child’s teacher or contact their school if they wish to opt out.
There is absolutely no reason for a parent to keep a child home on Tuesday, since we are accommodating their wishes.
