MEXICAN LAYERED SALAD

Is it a salad?  Is it a taco?  You be the judge!

Ingredients:

1 head shredded lettuce

1 medium onion, chopped

4 tomatoes, chopped

1/2 cup Mexican style shredded cheese (Monterey Jack/Cheddar blend)

1 large avocado, sliced

1 lb. ground beef

1 small can tomato sauce

1 15 oz. can black beans, drained

1 packet taco seasoning

1 small bag tortilla chips

Directions:

Toss lettuce, onions, tomatoes and cheese.

Crush tortilla chips and place over lettuce.

Brown ground meat, drain fat.  Add tomato sauce, black beans and taco seasoning packet and simmer for ten minutes.

Pour meat mixture over lettuce and tortilla chips.

Top with avocado slices.

You could also top with sour cream, salsa or black olives.
