LOVE IS…

Expressions of love in our family based on 1 Corinthians 13

Love is….

My love for Pip is
Patient and kind
Slow to anger
Always protects
Always hopes
Always perseveres

My love for Pip is
Cuddles at night when she can’t sleep
Pushing her in her buggy so
She can touch the leaves
Watching the birds in the park together
Listening to her angry outbursts
Making her favorite dinner
Sitting next to her on a roller coaster
Even though I know it will make me feel sick

My love for Pip is
Respecting her choices
Waking before dawn to take her to a school trip
Dreaming of good things for her future.

My love for Ian is
For richer for poorer
For better or for worse
In sickness and in health
Listening to him talking about the football results
Rejoicing when he rejoices
Hugging him and telling him i love him

My love for Ian is
Remembering he has feelings too
Even if he does not always show them.

My love for Catherine
Does not delight in evil
But rejoices in the truth
My love for Catherine
Never fails
It never passes away
It is listening to her good ideas
Talking to her late at night
and whispering I love her.
Holding her hand and willing her to live
Praying that her body would fight
Against the poisons
Taking a lock of her golden hair
Seeing her lying so cold and still
Lighting a candle
Dreaming of holding her.

Loving myself is….
Hard
I will try to be
Kind to myself
Allow myself to have feelings
Value myself as much as my precious things
Be patient and gentle with myself
And above all forgive myself as God has forgiven me

Now I know love only in part
Viewing it Dimly as a poor reflection in a mirror
But one day I will see face to face
And then I shall know fully
All will disappear but these three will remain
Faith
Hope
And love
And the greatest of these
Is love.
