Do you have a clue what real love is?
The kind that humans live to find.
Do you really know what it means
To love with your body, soul and mind?
Can you love without keeping score?
Can you forgive hurt without wanting revenge?
Can you take the brunt of hurtful remarks
Without going on a self-pity binge?
Can you say “Father, they know not what they do”
When they are spitting and dishing out pain.
Can you stay with someone that is cruel in words
Telling them you love them time and again?
Can you put others above your own self
When they are constantly putting you down?
Can you smile and lift the suffering up
When you are twisted inside with a horrible frown?
God does not desire a conflict of our emotions
When we say we love from deep in our heart.
He wishes for us to share deep abiding love
Like He gave to us right from the start.
Love should be safe and never destroy.
Love should protect, cover and shield.
Love will be everything that a person will need
If to God and His kind of love we will yield.
We should be able to destroy the scorecard.
We should never dwell on revenge to take.
We should strive to bring love and honor to our mate
Making sure their heart, we never will break.
If we could do this in the example of God
Pay close attention to what He has to say
Then will all honesty and purity of emotion
We could truly experience Valentine’s Day.

My name is Ruby Harris. I live near Birmingham, Alabama and I write spiritual lessons from Father God in poetry form. I have to live it to write it. I have been doing this since 1984. I am married and have 4 daughters and 6 grandchildren. Two twenty-one year old grandsons are in the Army together. I have one book published and it was delivered just before my husband had open heart surgery. I have given most of them to Doctors and Nurses and other patients that we come across in our “health adventures”. Two years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and God has healed me. A year ago He gave me a photo that is so life changing that you have to see it to believe it. Every poem I share I gets the same reaction. Did you write this just for me?
