“It’s not who votes that counts, it’s who counts the votes” is a famous quote most commonly attributed to Stalin. Whether it is true or not does not matter, what does is the fact that this philosophy has been embraced by George Soros. The Secretary of State Project (SoSP) began in the fall of 2005 by George Soros is an openly progressive group that is seeking “reform” of the election process.
What does reform mean to the SoSP? Well, this quote from their website should give you some insight, “We can be sure that the Republicans and the opponents of honest elections will try triply hard to regain lost seats and capture seats held by reformers.” As you can see, “Republicans” and “opponents of honest elections” are one and the same in the minds of those who seek to count your vote. Also from their website, “We’ve helped to elect 11 of 13 election reform candidates” and, “Building on our successful model in 2006 and 2008, The SoS Project is strategically focusing on a handful of key state races. Our goal – to ensure fair, clean elections in 2012 and beyond”.
How does all of this work? The SoSP, working with another Soros group, Project Vote targets a Secretary of State who is ethical and enforces election laws. In Ohio Project Vote used ACORN to help facilitate a lawsuit based upon a bogus charge of violations concerning the National Voter Registration Act. Big Government’s website reported, “Up against a secretary of state that was not going to “play ball,” ACORN lost. Unfortunately (and of major consequence), SoSP now targeted Ohio. Secretary of State Blackwell was replaced by SoSP endorsed candidate Jennifer Brunner (D) in 2006. ACORN subsequently re-filed the case, with a secretary of state ready to “play ball,” and won”. American Spectator captures the spirit of election theft by SoSP, “With a mere investment of $780,000 Soros and his allies were able to suborn free elections in the states of Montana, West Virginia, Missouri, Oregon, in 2008, and in Minnesota, Ohio, New Mexico, Nevada and Iowa, in 2006.” Guess how many of those states were won by B. Hussein Obama?
Convicted felon, George Soros, founded and funded the SoSP with a mere $780,000 dollars. Money well spent if you are a progressive. Who runs the organization on a day to day basis? The website provides the answer to that:

Four admitted progressives and a “social entrepreneur” whatever that is. These are the folks responsible for this quote from their website, “In Minnesota, we helped Mark Ritchie beat a Republican incumbent. Because of Secretary of State Ritchie’s dedication to fairness and transparency, a recount in the Coleman-Franken Senate race ensured every vote was counted and resulted in the certification of Al Franken’s narrow victory in the 2008 Minnesota Senate contest. Dollar for dollar, the SoS Project was one of 2006’s most effective political investments.” Somehow, I don’t see elections as a “political investment” and I bet most of you feel the same way. In 2010 the SoSP is targeting: Michigan, Iowa, California, South Dakota, Ohio and Minnesota. Do not feel relieved if your Secretary of State is not on the list, it is possible your Secretary of State is not considered a threat by SoSP, they “play ball” so to speak.
Each position in an election is vital, but Soros figured something out that the honest people didn’t, Secretaries of State count the votes and that matters. How long has your Secretary of State been in office? Will they enforce the Constitution and election laws? If you do not know, you need to find out. Remember the SoSP says every vote should count. I say every “legal” vote should count. What say you?

I remember that Al Frankin kept on loosing the election recounts and the secretary of state would not certify the election until a bunch of ballots were found in trunk of someones car. Then Frankin won and was certified. Is that where you put your ballot, in the trunk of a car? Is that the secure place ballots are put to guarantee they will not be tampered with?

The slogan, “Every Vote Should Be Counted” refers to past efforts by Republicans to ensure that legally cast votes did not get counted, such as provisional ballots, absentee ballots, and so on. What do you think the whole US attorneys firing scandal was about?
It is in Republicans’ strategic interest to seek stricter voter ID requirements, and to class as many votes as possible as provisional, because the kinds of people who lack the ID required for voting are statistically much less likely to vote Republican. Republicans make a big hullabaloo about the prospect of illegal immigrants voting, but there’s been perhaps one documented case of that in the last ten years. In reality, it’s about disenfranchising American citizens: the elderly black people who were born at home and never had a formal birth certificate, the poor people who have never had a driver’s license and can’t easily take the time off work to go and get one.
The more intensely you try to exclude “illegal votes”, the harder you make it for American citizens to vote whose votes ought to be valid and counted.
I don’t actually watch MSNBC, or any other TV news for that matter; so I’m not sure what liberal hiding place to hide in. I guess I’ll just have to make do with the truth.

George Soros, convicted felon, has stated that he bought the 2008 elections for $800,000. ACORN is a known fraud. When there is a pattern of illegal activity within an organization and it spreads across state lines, it is a violation of RICO statutes.
I am most curious why you focus on a bankrupt, defunct ACORN, rather than address the issues of the Sect. of State Project, a group that openly states: Every Vote Should Be Counted. I prefer to believe that every legal vote should be counted.
Go back to your liberal hiding place, deep within the bowels of MSNBC and come back with a new set of talking points.

You don’t present any evidence that the Secretaries of State in question certified any vote counts containing illegally cast votes.
It seems that you just take it as read that Democratic secretaries of state will automatically do so. You tell us that the American Spectator says that elections were suborned in four states in 2008; but what proof do they offer, and why should anyone believe a word of it?
If it’s this article you’re referring to (http://spectator.org/archives/2009/12/04/soros-eyes-secretaries/), they don’t present a lick of evidence as to those states. They simply try to create the impression that anyone who has ever had a passing acquaintance with ACORN is automatically a vote-thievin’, capitalism-opposin’ “suborner” of the American Way.
This is all ACORN ever did. They hired folk to go out and register voters. They paid the folk they hired per name they handed in. Some of the folk they hired, rationally, made a whole bunch of names up to get extra money.
ACORN was required by law to submit all names collected, so they had to submit them all, but they flagged the ones that contained clearly made-up names.
Granted, it was dumb to pay people per name, but a) it wasn’t criminal, b) ACORN then followed the law to the letter, and tried to lessen the impact of the mistake they made, and c) Mickey Mouse was never recorded as having cast his vote in any jurisdiction where ACORN was registering voters.
So exactly how, in your fevered imagination, did ACORN, or Soros, or anyone else, steal a state’s electoral votes?
I suspect that you’re smarter than that, Bill. I’ve been reading your columns for a while now. I suspect that you’re well aware ACORN didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just that it is necessary for the success of the movement you’re trying to create to find as many ways as possible of presenting Obama as not legitimately elected.
