Midnight feedings and diaper changes
I can make it better when you cry
Right now I can protect you
And I can answer all your “why’s”
When you get older, it might embarrass you
For me to give you a hug and kiss

There will be times when you’ll hate me
For doing what I think is best for you

That’s what mothers are supposed to do
I’d give my life to spare you pain
Though life’s lessons sometimes come with tears
I’ll be here for you to lean on
Through miles and time and years
Right now just rock-a-bye your cares
You precious little boy
My gift to this world is you
And your life is my joy

I really love the poem . it is like a lullaby particularly with the phrase “rock a bye your cares” A realistic lullaby rather than all sugary sweet.
