FREEDOM FLIES OUR FLAG

Thank God for our soldiers that took the load
Fighting to keep America on the right road
Seeing many a sunset and a waving flag
The coming darkness causing spirit to sag
Wondering what would come at dawn’s early light
Hoping the flag would be their first sight
The enemy loves to prey on fear in the dark
Wondering if at daybreak they will still embark
On our mission to make sure Old Glory still waves
Over our country and not just over graves

They stood as brave in the darkest of night
As with greatest of courage with morning light
Able to stand knowing that freedom prevailed
Our flag still waving proving they had not failed
Onward they go with Flag in hand
Through muddy waters and desert sand
Meeting the enemy wherever the need
Making sure we leave behind Freedom’s seed
Many a sunset may fall on us yet
We will not surrender, on that you can bet
With our flag still waving and freedom calling to endure
Morning light will let us see that Flag for sure

About Ruby Harris

My name is Ruby Harris. I live near Birmingham, Alabama and I write spiritual lessons from Father God in poetry form.  I have to live it to write it.  I have been doing this since 1984.  I am married and have 4 daughters and 6 grandchildren.  Two twenty-one year old grandsons are in the Army together. I have one book published and it was delivered just before my husband had open heart surgery.  I have given most of them to Doctors and Nurses and other patients that we come across in our “health adventures”.  Two years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and God has healed me.  A year ago He gave me a photo that is so life changing that you have to see it to believe it.  Every poem I share I gets the same reaction.  Did you write this just for me?  It’s amazing from an amazing God.
