STEPPING OUT IN FAITH

One of the keys in
developing a deeper relationship with God is taking opportunities to
step out in faith. Throughout the Bible, God blessed his
followers who trusted his word and stepped out in confidence that God would do
as He said. Abraham took his only son Isaac to sacrifice him for the
Lord based on his faith that God had a good plan from this act (Genesis
22:1-18). Moses led his people out of Egypt
to be trapped between an approaching army and the Red Sea
by having faith that God would deliver them (Exodus 14:13-31).
Gideon went to battle with only 300 soldiers against on army of 120,000 with
faith
that if he obeyed and trusted God, he would be assured of victory
(Judges Ch.6-8).

Stepping out in faith requires an action that
we take to trust God above our own understanding. God will
sometimes call us to obey him in ways that are not comfortable for us. He
may call us to worship him even when it costs us or when it’s challenging.
Stepping out infaith means we choose to believe
that God has ultimate love for us, and that His plans are always for our own
good. It means letting go
of the world’s definition of security and success. It means stepping out of our comfort zone and
putting ourselves in a position to let
God do what only He can do through our lives.

“…faith by
itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” James 2:17
(emphasis added)

Are there barriers between where you are now and where God wants you to
be? We encourage you to examine your life during your time with God and
see what areas He might be asking you
to
step out in faith.

I’ve recently taken
a leap of faith with my life, taking God at his word and trusting Him to keep
his promises. A huge motivation for me to act on His promptings in my
heart came after watching Faith Like Potatoes (based on a true story) with my wife.
If you have not yet seen this video, we highly recommend it! To

“Let
us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is
faithful.”
