OUR PRAYER FOR YOU

prayinghands2

James 5:13-16
If any one of you in trouble, he should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. (KJV)

Father,we give thanks for the good news of salvation for all people. Strengthen us for our work in the world, empower your Church to proclaim the gospel in service, word and sacrament. Unite in the truth all who confess Your name that we may live together in love to your glory.

Lord, help our unbelief. When we are in pain, we forget that you care about us. We forget that you have helped us through our trials. We forget that you hold us in your arms to keep us safe. We forget that you are feeling our pain with us. We forget that you love us, and we forget that we are important to you. Show us your presence – let us feel your all-encompassing love. Heal our hurting souls. Thank you for staying with us even in our unbelief.

Holy Spirit of God, abide with us. Inspire all our thoughts, pervade our imaginations; be the advocate in all our decisions, order all our doings. Be with us in our silence and in our speech, in our haste and in our leisure, in company and in solitude, in the freshness of the morning and in the weariness of the evening; and give us grace at all times to humbly rejoice in your mysterious companionship.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. We commend to your fatherly goodness all who are afflicted or distressed in body, mind or circumstances, relieve them according to their needs, giving them patience in their sufferings, and deliverance from their afflictions.

Lord Jesus, our Redeemer, you willingly gave yourself up to death so that all people might be saved and pass from death into a new life. Look with love on your people who mourn for those who have joined you in glory.

And Lord, make us an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

Amen
