In recent days this publication has come under a
great deal of fire for publishing an article entitled: BREAKING:
MULTIPLE RANCHES IN LAREDO, TX TAKEN OVER BY LOS ZETAS. The Cypress Times has received comments on
this article ranging from outrage expressed by American citizens, to accusations
of racism as a motive for publishing the article, to those which are simply
laced with too much profanity to even publish. The profanity laced commentary
comes almost equally from both those who believe the story content and those
who do not.
I chose to publish the original article for several
reasons, all of which I detailed in the article: LOS
ZETAS TAKES OVER RANCHES IN TEXAS; NOT A PEEP FROM MSM. As of now, The Cypress Times cannot confirm whether
the original article and others published across the web on this reported
takeover of ranches near Laredo, Texas is true.
At this point, the internet response itself has become a story with a life
of its own. Our own experience here at
The Cypress Times with reader commentary and reaction tells an interesting
story about the passion and opinions surrounding issues with our southern border.
One comment out of many with the same tone follows:
Comment Title:
You are all stupid
Comment Content: The hatred you have for people not like you has made
you so blind that you’ve suspended all disbelief to prove in your mind that the
Mexicans were coming. Not only have you proven your hatred by chasing down
every false lead like a dog running after a car, you’ve demonstrated how
incredibly gullible you all are. You want to know why liberals think you’re a
bunch of uneducated rednecks? This is why.

Scary brown people…oh noe!
Seriously you people believe armed “squads” of drug cartel commandos
have seized farms in the US.
Yes, obviously they have…with all their “training”…decided a
direct confrontation with the united states is a good idea.
Obviously some good’ol boys went out and killed a few illegals…likely looking
for water, and now its a defense from invasion.
Where is your story on the Flores Family, where is your investigation into who
else was helping Forde and her lackeys as they executed a family for nothing
more then being the wrong color?
Who was on the other end of Forde’s Comms radio?
There is no mexican cartel invasion. Bigots.
It is beyond my comprehension that in today’s American
society those on the political extreme left are incapable of distinguishing
between members of the Mexican citizenry and an armed, highly trained,
incredibly violent organized Mexican drug cartel.
Los Zetas is not comprised of Mexican citizens
coming across the U.S./Mexico border in order to seek a better life for their
families. They are organized, violent criminals and the evidence of brutality by
Los Zetas and other Mexican drug cartels is well documented:
Wikipedia’s
breakdown on Los Zetas:
Los Zetas is a criminal organization in Mexico dedicated
mostly to international illegal drug trade and other organized crime
activities. This drug cartel was founded by an elite force of assassins from Mexican
Army deserters and is now integrated by corrupt ex-federal, state, and
local police officers, as well as ex-Kaibiles from Guatemala.
This group of highly trained gunmen was first hired as a private mercenary
army for Mexico’s Gulf Cartel. Since the arrest of the Gulf Cartel’s
leader, Osiel Cárdenas Guillen, as well as other
events, the two entities became a combined trafficking force, with the Zetas
taking a more active leadership role in drug trafficking.[2][3][4][5]
Since February 2010 Los Zetas have gone independent and became enemies of its
former employer/partner, the Gulf Cartel.
Los Zetas are led by Heriberto “El Lazca” Lazcano and are
considered by the Drug Enforcement Administration
(DEA) as probably being the most violent paramilitary
enforcement group in Mexico, capturing tourists from the U.S and holding them
for ransom.[6][7] Los
Zetas have expanded their operations to Italy with the ‘Ndrangheta.[8]
Wikipedia lists recent known activity from Los
Zetas:
- In February
2004, a large group of their commandos broke into a prison in Michoacán
Mexico and freed 25 fellow Zetas.[33] - In June
2005, they killed Alejandro Coello, police chief of Nuevo
Laredo, only six hours after he was sworn into office.[33] - In March
2006 they forced the resignation of Coello’s replacement by threatening to
kill more and more people if he would not step down. The police chief
finally broke after personally discovering three charred bodies on the
side of a city street.[33] - In November
2006, singer Valentín Elizalde was murdered, along with
his driver and manager, in an attack believed to be related to Los Zetas.[citation needed] - In February
2007 several Zetas dressed in army uniforms, massacring five police
officers and two administrative assistants and injuring countless others
in the town of Acapulco.[33] - In April
2007, Los Zetas murdered Chilpancingo’s
police chief while he was eating in a restaurant with his wife and family.[33] - In May 2007
they kidnapped, tortured and murdered Jacinto Granada, a Mexican Infantry
captain.[33] - In June 2007
Los Zetas robbed several major casinos in Nuevo
Leon, Veracruz,
Coahuila,
and Baja California.[33] - In the
first eleven months of 2008, Los Zetas were directly responsible for the
deaths of 5,300 people.[citation needed] This
number includes soldiers, their own operatives, civilians, and rival drug
traffickers. - In June
2010, Hector Raul Luna, leader of Los Zetas for the state of Nuevo
León, was arrested in Monterrey. [34]
Kurt Nimmo of
Infowars.com reported the following on July 15, 2010
A
video posted on YouTube reveals the extent of the narco violence on the
U.S.-Mexico border. “We heard machine guns, 9mm pistols, grenades, everything,”
a note posted with the video explains. The gunfire occurred in Reynosa, Mexico,
across the border from McAllen, Texas, on July 11.
·
On July 14, the Associated Press reported on gun battles along the
Mexico-Texas border. “According to army statements, the first shootout killed a
soldier in Reynosa on Sunday. Four gunmen [from the Zetas drug gang] died
Tuesday in the same city, and another three were killed in Nuevo Laredo.”
·
On July 2, KGBT
in Harlingen, Texas, reported a shootout in the Colonia Olmo and
Fraccionamiento Arboledas neighborhoods on Reynosa’s northwest side. “Mexican
Army officials reported that one of the patrols came under fire at the
Carretera Ribereña to Nuevo Laredo,” the news station reported.
·
Bullets fired from the Mexican city of Juárez struck the El Paso, Texas, city hall on
June 30. “No one was hurt, but nerves were rattled at City Hall in what
is thought to be the first cross-border gunfire during a drug war that has
engulfed Juárez since 2008,” reported the El Paso Times.

These drug cartels are not in any way representative of the people of
Mexico. They are deadly, vicious and
cruel.
From AOL News -
(June 7) — Even in the
midst of a drug war that has left thousands dead, this was a particularly
gruesome discovery: six bodies in a cave, three of them with their hearts
apparently cut out.
That is what police in Mexico found Sunday, in a natural cave just outside the
resort town of Cancun.
Francisco
Alor, the attorney general in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, said the
victims — two women and four men — had been tortured. In a statement to The Associated Press, Alor’s office said their “chests
were opened to remove the hearts.”
For anyone living north of the border to fear or even – yes – Hate – these
drug cartels is not an issue of race.
This is not about a fear of “brown people.” This is the same understandable, natural fear any one would feel from a potential encounter with gun toting organized criminals.
Where are those same bleeding heart liberals when it comes to outrage for
innocent Mexican citizens who are being murdered by these same cartels? Is it okay if “brown people” kill “brown
people” but not okay if an American (of any race) expresses concern?
The Cypress Times is based in NW Houston, Texas. We are intimately familiar with “brown people”
here. First, I’ve never met anyone here who
would use the term “brown people”. We do have
a word for people of Mexican descent.
The word is American.
Many of the calls I’ve received screaming “racism” have come from Michigan, Wisconsin,
Massachusetts and other points closer to the U.S./Canadian border than to the
U.S./Mexican border.
The place where I live was once actually Mexico. My family roots trace back to the
day when “Tejas” was a part of Mexico.
Mexican culture and Texas culture are inexorably intertwined, just as
the Mexican culture is a permanent, integral part of the cultures, history and
pride of New Mexico, Arizona and California.
We celebrate Cinco De Mayo statewide here and throughout the
Southwestern U.S. This is not about
bigotry, nor is it about racism.
When it comes to Mexican Drug Cartels entering the U.S. and border violence
spilling over the Rio Grande into Texas, or Arizona or New Mexico or any place
that is sovereign U.S. soil, the issues are:
Safety for citizens of all races. Mexican Drug Cartel violence does not discriminate, and the sovereignty of the U.S.
The only ways to combat these drug cartels are to close the border, sealing
off the supply side, and to do it with all necessary resources at the disposal
of the United States government.
At the same time, U.S. law enforcement agencies must make a specific targeted
effort to crack down on those in the U.S. that comprise the “demand” side for
these illegal drugs. In order to secure
the safety of both Mexican citizens caught in the melee’s now occurring on the
streets of their cities which border the U.S., and the safety of American
citizens living near the border, the U.S. government must lead not follow, must
be bold not timid, and must act decisively and without regard for political
fallout.
In other words, the government of the U.S. has to be brave enough to face
cries of racism, and do the right thing for the citizens of both Mexico and
the U.S. This requires a decisive joint
effort of the Mexican and U.S. governments.
One of the problems many people on both sides of this toxic argument seem to
have is distinguishing between these heavily armed, highly volatile Mexican
drug gangs, and those who cross the border illegally in search of a better
life.
It is wrong, and yes, racist to throw these two groups together in the same
category. Both those on the left – who call
everything racist – and those on the right are guilty.
The lunatic fringe of the left seems to believe no crime or atrocity
should be punished, or even mentioned, if it involves people of a
minority. The lunatic fringe on the
right wants you to believe that crossing the border illegally for work and
crossing the border armed with machine guns ready to kill to protect the
illegal drug trade are equal offenses.
They are not.
My heart goes out to any father or mother who leaves their family and crosses
an international border illegally in order to be able to make a living wage to
support their children.
I am not saying this excuses the part about “illegally” crossing the
border. I am saying this is a world of
difference from armed murderers having roving gun battles with police and
military in order to protect their drug smuggling trade.
We need to holster the racism charges in this country – on both sides – and focus on the real issues.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION:
CLOSE THE BORDER
– this has to be step one for both illegal immigration and stopping the flow
of Mexican drugs into the U.S.
CREATE A FAIR AMNESTY PROGRAM
– Yes, I know this is not a popular idea among my fellow conservatives, and
I have come to acceptance of this option of late and reluctantly.
The sad reality is that both Republican and Democrat administrations going
back to George H.W. Bush and continuing straight through unabated to Barack
Obama have allowed illegal immigration to occur without any effective deterrent
whatsoever, resulting in millions of illegal aliens now residing in this
country.
I can choose to stand firm on the fact that those entering this country illegally
have broken the law and ought to be punished – which is my natural first
reaction – or I can reluctantly accept the inescapable truth that the problem
is now too big to police retroactively.
The cost, manpower and resources required to round-up all the illegals and
ship them back to Mexico is a laughable impossibility that would result in
deepened feelings of hatred and produce little to no genuine results, while
shoving the economy of the United States of America over the brink and firmly
into bankruptcy. To what end?
So, offer all current “illegals” amnesty.
Give them all the status of “Alien resident” and start collecting taxes
and allowing those here illegally to come out of the shadows and join American
society.
It is not the perfect solution. No
perfect solution exists. It is, however, a
fair solution given where things stand today, and given the fact that the
problem itself was allowed to reach this point by our own government. Insisting on punitive actions against those individuals
who have entered this country illegally by the millions ignores the fact that
our own government, Congress and Presidents combined, are equally guilty as accessories
to the crime committed.
THE DRUG CARTELS:
As I’ve already stated; close the border and crack down on both the supply
and demand sides with all resources available to our law enforcement
officials, including the National Guard and U.S. military.
Both of these plans require bold action from our elected representatives. Sadly, boldness seems to be in short supply today from those who claim to be our
“leaders.”

MAN NEXT TIME YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH CHECK WHO IS COOKING YOUR FOOD AT A FAST FOOD RESTRUAUNT CHECK WHO DOES YOUR YARDS DONT BE SELFISH YOU SHOULD APRECIATE ALL THE MEXICANS THAT ARE HERE!!!!
IF YOU CANT GET INTO AMERICA LEGALLY IT MEANS YOUR NOT WANTED THERFORE STAY OUT !!!!
U.S. cannot close the border because of all the importing/exporting that is done between the U.S. and Mexico. Another thing, not all illegal immigrants bring drugs/violence into the U.S. Many illegal immigrants come to the U.S. to obtain jobs to provide families in Mexico with money. Just so you know, the battles taking place in Nuevo Laredo is staying there. No violence is coming to Laredo, Texas. I should know, I live there. Laredo, Texas is a safe/boring town to live in. This is the middle of July and there have been 3 maybe 4 homicides. How many murders take place in Houston? I am sure a lot.
I am with you for about 80% because I have to vehemently disagree with your amnesty statements. This was tried by Ronald Reagan and all it did was to encourage MORE people to come here, illegally. No, what has to happen is a revocation of the ancor baby laws, and as they are found send them home. Then they can apply and try and re-enter at the back of the line.
You say that it is the only way to be fair. How is that fair to all those out there, both Mexican and non-Mexican that waited in line, did their duty, and fought to come here to make a better life.
Amnesty only allows for more and more to try to get away with jumping the line.
Secure the border, enact Az. SB1070 in all states on the border, and as they’re found send them and their families back. That is fair. That is justice.
