Are we there yet? Every parent who has driven a
distance with children has heard this question. While we as parents know
how much further there is to go before we arrive at our destination, for the
impatient child, the trip can seem like it will never end.
The same can be true at times in our lives when our faith is tested. We
can easily find ourselves stuck in situations that seem like there is no light
at the end of the tunnel. Conflicts in relationships, medical or financial
struggles, or just waiting for God to take us to the next stage in our journey
with Him can leave one feeling helpless or restless.
It is in these moments of testing that one must trust in who God is. God
is powerful, loving and merciful. Even though circumstances around you
may seem unbearable, God is faithful and will help those who trust in Him.
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change
his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not
fulfill?? (Numbers 23:19)
Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.?
(Proverbs 30:5)
When you place your trust in God, you are trusting in the only thing in the
universe that cannot fail. All love, all power and all control rest with
God. God has revealed himself in the Bible, and has promised to provide
for those who seek him earnestly, for those who love Him with all their heart.
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those
who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who
seek you? (Psalm 9:9-10)
But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never
perish? (Psalm 9:18)
The waiting can be the hardest part. And the pressure of the challenges
one faces can lead to doubt, fear and insecurity. But how wonderful that
we have a God who never forgets us, never forsakes us, who will be our refuge
during the storms of life!
No matter what you are facing, you can overcome it by trusting in who God is.
