DESERT LIZARD AND D.C. REPTILES MAY SHUT DOWN WEST TEXAS OIL PRODUCTION

Dunes Lizard

The Dunes Sagebrush Lizard could end production/drilling of
major source of U.S. oil

MIDLAND, TX – The U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service wants to see the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard protected under the
Endangered Species Act. Should the
lizard, which is approximately 3 inches long and calls the Permian Basin area
of Texas home, be given that protection, the drilling and production of West
Texas crude oil would basically end.

If you
like paying $4 per gallon for gasoline or more, then you should get behind the
efforts of the federal government on this one.
If you love the idea of maybe paying $10 per gallon at the pump, then the
protection of this lizard should be your new pet cause.

The Dunes
Sagebrush Lizard is found primarily in the West Texas desert and most
specifically in Andrews and Gaines counties, which by the way, are the most
prolific counties in the U.S. for producing oil.

The Obama
Administration has refused to issue offshore drilling permits in adequate numbers
to keep up with our nation’s need for oil, refuses to drill in Anwr, Alaska and
now seems determined to back door a shutdown of oil drilling and production in
West Texas, which provides more oil than any other domestic source on dry land.

The Obama
Administration seems bound and determined to end, not our dependence upon
fossil fuel, but to simply ensure that all fossil fuel used by Americans come
with a “Made in Saudi Arabia” label on it, and a price tag that puts the greatest
possible economic strain upon American citizens.

The rising
price of gas at the pumps is tantamount to a tax upon every working American,
and if those prices continue to rise they could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back in terms of putting the final nail in the coffin of a once
dominant U.S. economy.

Can you
afford $4, $5, $6 or more for a gallon of gas?
Can you afford the rise in food costs that will necessarily result in
the rise in of gas?

Everything
you own or use in your daily life without exception is delivered to you
possibly by a ship and absolutely by a truck that runs on fossil fuel. Every piece of produce, meat or clothing you
purchase has a built in price for each gallon of gasoline purchased in order to
complete delivery.

Are you
ready to see our economy bombarded further for the sake of a lizard?

It’s not really about the lizard,
it’s about the reptiles that call Washington DC home

Let’s be
clear. It’s not about the lizard. It’s about a radical environmental agenda at
the very least, and at most it’s about something beyond our comprehension,
perpetrated by people who apparently believe down deep somewhere in their bones
that you need to suffer, that America needs to fall.

You want
to know how to knock America to its knees?
Cut off or reduce domestic oil production. Even a casual observer must now be seeing a
pattern in the Obama Administration that seems determined to do exactly
that. Gas
prices under Barack Obama have risen over 55%.
Offshore oil production in
the U.S. is down 13% under Obama.

This week
the EPA shut down drilling off the coast of Alaska, and kicked Shell off of a
lease it has spent over $4 billion developing.
At stake is an estimated 27 billion barrels of oil. Why shut it down? The EPA is withholding necessary air permits because of a one
square mile village of 245 people, 70 miles from the offshore drilling site.

Motives
for such actions seem to be far less about clean air or moving to solar, wind,
and other alternative sources of energy, and much more about simply striking
America at its heart by shutting down domestic fossil fuel drilling and
production.

President
Obama recently committed the U.S. to becoming Brazil’s biggest customer for oil
consumption. How about America becoming
America’s biggest and exclusive consumer of oil? How about a president who gushes with support
for the American oil industry rather than making promises to grow the economy
of foreign nations at the expense of our own?

The U.S.
Geological Survey, as well as other independent sources, have confirmed time and
again that the United States of America has more proven oil reserves than does
Saudi Arabia, or for that matter, any other country on the planet.

See USGS Alaska, USGS Arctic, Bakken Foration,
not to mention, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana and offshore reserves. The amount of available U.S. oil is measured
in the trillions of barrels.

Meanwhile,
Wikileaks has exposed internal U.S. government documents that say the experts
in our own government believe the Saudis have overestimated their oil
reserves.

UPI.com
reports, “Estimates of oil reserves in Saudi Arabia are overstated, meaning
crude output could peak within the next decade, leaked U.S. diplomatic cables
reveal.

“Washington fears Saudi Arabia
overestimated its oil reserves by as much as 40 percent and the kingdom can’t
keep enough oil flowing to control prices, U.S. diplomatic cables obtained by
WikiLeaks and published by The Guardian newspaper in London reveal.”

What sane person looking
out for the best interest of the American people would move to buy more, and
find more, foreign oil when domestic oil is available?

An increase in
exploration, drilling and refining of domestic oil would not only drop the
price of gas at the pump and lower the cost of food, it would also put
thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of Americans back to work. All of which are desperately needed right now
in our nation.

Former
President George W. Bush said today on ABC’s Good Morning America, “I would suggest Americans
understand how supply and demand works. And if you restrict supplies of crude,
the price of oil is going to go up and it affects gasoline.” And according to liberals he’s supposed to be
the dumb one.

If you’re anti-oil and
think the electric car and the windmill are the cure all of our ills as a
people, you should consider the entire impact of fossil fuels on your
life. Switching to electric cars won’t
fuel our military or fly planes.

You also better be ready to give up tons of other things you use in your life daily
from cell phones to some of your shoes and clothing, basically anything made
with plastic and so much more. One 42-gallon barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of
gasoline. The rest, over half, is used to make things like:

Ink, Floor Wax, Ballpoint Pens,
Football Cleats, Upholstery, Sweaters, Boats, Insecticides, Bicycle Tires,
Sports Car Bodies, Nail Polish, Fishing lures, Dresses, Tires, Golf Bags,
Perfumes, Dishwasher parts, Tool Boxes, Shoe Polish, Motorcycle Helmet,
Caulking, Petroleum Jelly, Transparent Tape, CD Players, Faucet Washers, Antiseptics,
Food Preservatives, Basketballs, Soap, Vitamin Capsules, Antihistamines,
Purses, Shoes, Dashboards, Cortisone, Deodorant, Footballs, Putty, Dyes, Panty
Hose, Refrigerant, Life Jackets, Rubbing Alcohol, Skis, TV Cabinets,
Electrician’s Tape, Tool Racks, Car Battery Cases, Epoxy, Paint, Mops, Slacks,
Insect Repellent, Oil Filters, Umbrellas, Yarn, Fertilizers, Hair Coloring,
Roofing, Toilet Seats, Fishing Rods,
Lipstick, Denture Adhesive, Linoleum, Ice Cube Trays, Synthetic Rubber,
Speakers, Electric Blankets, Glycerin, Tennis Rackets, Rubber Cement, Fishing
Boots, Nylon Rope, Candles, Trash Bags, Water Pipes, Hand Lotion, Surf Boards,
Shampoo, Wheels, Paint Rollers, Shower Curtains, Guitar Strings, Luggage,
Aspirin, Safety Glasses, Antifreeze, Eyeglasses, Clothes, Toothbrushes, Ice
Chests, Footballs, Combs, CD’s & DVD’s, Paint Brushes, Detergents,
Vaporizers, Balloons, Sun Glasses, Heart Valves, Crayons, Parachutes, Cell
Phones, Enamel, Pillows, Dishes, Cameras, Anesthetics, Artificial limbs, Movie
film, Soft Contact lenses, Fan Belts, Car Enamel, Shaving Cream, Ammonia,
Toothpaste and of course, gasoline.

Foreign oil or U.S. oil?

A dependency upon Middle East oil creates
a necessity to be involved in the conflicts of oil producing nations in order
to protect that oil and the price of gas.

The lizard or sanity?

A public
hearing on the whole lizard issue will be held today at
6:30 pm at the Midland Center located at 105 N. Main. The public comment period allowing you to
voice your concerns and opinions will close on May 16, 2011 and a final
decision will come from now sooner than December 15, 2011.

Better call your Congressman now, or get ready to
pony up at the pump – again.

Dingbat! It requires diesel fuel to grow, transport and produce hemp and hemp products.

  2. Ned says:

All those products you mentioned in your article that are made from crude oil can be made from hemp… This article was so biased, I could smell it a mile away…

LEGALIZE HEMP, SAVE AMERICAS ECONOMY AND OUR ENVIRONMENT!

  3. Murph says:

I want to know who is going out looking for these lizards. Are they actually getting out of their car and looking? Viewing pictures of this lizard, I’ve seen this lizard, or a very similar resemblance running up fence posts, and across the ground all over west Texas. As with ALL other species, they adapt to change to ensure their future generations. If legislation is passed to protect a lizard that is in my view NOT endangered would handicap the entire economy of West Texas with more EXPENSIVE, TIME CONSUMING, and UNNECESSARY red tape.
