MHS Health Science Student attending Medical Conference
Joey Cassata and Lexis Hughes, both sophomores at Magnolia High School, were nominated and accepted to represent their school and community at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Houston Texas this summer. Their Health Science teacher, Mrs. Halbert, nominated these students because of their outstanding work ethic in her class and passion about the medical field. Cassata and Hughes are not sure what specific area of the medical field they will pursue, but know that they will have a better knowledge of their choices after attending the conference. The National Youth Leadership Forum nominates exceptional students from around the country to attend this experiential educational program. Mrs. Halbert is proud to be sending Cassata and Hughes and hopes to continue this opportunity each year as she continues to teach Principles of Health Science and Medical Terminology.
Internship Offered to MWHS Health Science Student
Lee Tracy, a junior at MWHS, recently learned that he was selected to intern at The Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands over the summer. Through the application process, he was responsible for writing an essay on how this internship will benefit him for the future. Also required was a teacher recommendation letter from the Health Science teacher, Mrs. Halbert. Tracy had taken Medical Terminology last semester, which enabled him to write the essay using proper medical knowledge. This helped him obtain the position of internship and is looking forward to this unique medical opportunity.
