- Install ample ceiling light fixtures for the size of the room and use bulbs that mimic natural daylight
- Choose easy-care flooring. Use wipe-clean flooring for messy play areas and softer floor coverings for active play and lounging around. Throw rugs may be able to be laundered
- Focus on providing safe, sturdy furniture and play structures
- Provide easy accessible storage to keep books and playthings visible
