Operation Veteran Appreciation, sponsored by Gallery Furniture, is the Astros newest program honoring the military and is a specific tribute to veterans for their past service. Each Astros home game, one veteran and their guest will attend a game courtesy of the team, watching from two unique and patriotic seats. These specially designed red, white and blue seats are field level behind home plate in section 119, row 31, seats 11 and 12. The tickets are pre-loaded with $15 that can be spent at the ballpark.

Fans can help honor the great community of veterans for their valor, excellence and timeless service by nominating a veteran they know for Operation Veteran Appreciation at www.astros.com/operationvet.

AUGUST 29: HELPING A HERO

The Astros are working with Helping A Hero to provide a special experience for military members that have been injured while serving their country. Approximately 30 wounded soldiers will meet a few Astros players prior to the August 29 game. The contingent will then enjoy the game together courtesy of the Astros and Helping A Hero. Helping a Hero is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization providing support for military personnel, severely injured in the war on terror. They provide specially adapted homes for qualifying service members as well as engaging the community to provide services and resources for wounded heroes and their families.

SEPTEMBER 2: CLINT’S CREW

Astros shortstop Clint Barmes is sponsoring Clint’s Crew in 2011. One Friday a month, Barmes is hosting a group of kids and their chaperones to a unique Astros experience. The 20 attendees receive a ticket to the game, $10 to spend while at the ballpark, a Clint’s Crew goodie bag and they will meet Clint while watching batting practice from the field. This Friday is the last Clint’s Crew of the season and a group from Jr. RBI will participate.

SEPTEMBER 4: HOME SWEET HOME

Each Sunday home game, the Astros and the USO are working together on the team’s Home Sweet Home program sponsored by Budweiser. Home Sweet Home welcomes a small group of active, recently returned military personnel and their guests to a special Astros experience that includes a player meet and greet. They watch the game from a suite and are introduced to the crowd prior to the seventh inning singing of “God Bless America.”

SEPTEMBER 6: SUNSHINE KIDS PARTY
