NEW MEXICO YOUTH MAKES OWLS HIS TEAM

Six-year-old Ross Keeler from Gallup, N.M., became a fan of the Rice Owls in 2010 when he stopped by Rice Stadium to watch them practice football while he was in Houston for cancer treatments at Texas Children’s Hospital. In this video tribute, Keeler comes back to Rice to visit head football coach David Bailiff and the team; they surprise him by showing on the stadium screen a video of Keeler scoring a 50-yard touchdown back home on his flag football team, which was named the Owls at Keeler’s request.
