NOT FOR SISSIES

I could not fill a thimble,

My faith has grown so weak,
Enchained by fear, anxiety,
The future looks so bleak.
Disaster rules the universe,
Each day new headlines scream,
It takes a mighty leap of faith
To rise from nightly dreams.
The enemy so filled with glee
His subtle weapons win
When fear and worry haunts the thoughts,
Compelling terrors we spin.
Calamities of every kind
Deluging minds with dread,
The path to peace forgotten,
Trembling in fear instead.
Imprisoned by our mental fears
And sunshine fades away,
No joy, no happiness, no blissful dreams,
Because we’ve feet of clay.
Controlled by fear we’ve left behind
God’s promises of peace,
“Do not fear” He often said,
And hearts will know release.
Searching through the Word each day,
We find He’s in control,
There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him,
Faith purges what fear stole.
He’s given us His armor,
We choose just what to wear,
Protection from what’s all around,
And rule our hearts with prayer.
This life is not for “sissies”,
But we are not alone,
He’ll hold us in His mighty arms
Until we’re finally home.
“Fear will always knock on your door.  Just don’t invite it in for dinner, and for heaven’s sake don’t offer it a bed for the night.  Let’s embolden our hearts with a select number of Jesus’ “do not fear” statements.  Fear may fill our world, but it doesn’t have to fill our hearts.”  Max Lucado
“Casting the whole of your care–all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all–on Him, for He cares for you affectionately, and cares about you watchfully.”  I Peter 5:7 (Amplified)
“Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day (of danger), and having done all (the crisis demands), to stand (firmly in your place).  Ephesians 6:13 (Amplified)
