WALLER ISD – The State FFA Leadership Contest was held on December 2nd at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Schools that advanced from their perspective Local, District, Area and/or Regional qualifying events are eligible to compete at the State Contest. The entire contest is structured around the ideas of teaching students in high school to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
The Waller High School FFA students had the great honor to compete in the Jr. Quiz Contest and the Sr. Quiz Contest since they placed in top rankings from the Area Meet. Waller High School FFA Head Sponsor Craig Melton said, “This was a historical moment for our chapter since we have never had more than one Leadership Team advance to the State Contest in the same year. We would like to say congratulations to both teams. Thanks for making us proud. ”
At the awards ceremonies the Texas FFA Executive Director, Tom Maynard, presented the State Finalists with data that has been gathered since November, when the districts began competing. 412 teams competed in the Jr. Quiz event, and 376 teams competed in the Sr. Quiz event across the State of Texas. When results were announced, Waller FFA ended the Leadership season as State Runner-up – 2nd Place – in the Jr. Quiz Contest, and 7th in the Sr. Quiz Contest. Congratulations to the students for their superior accomplishment!
