FOURTH GRADE PHILANTHROPIST WORKS TO SERVE OTHERS

TOMBALL ISD – Tomball Elementary School student Jessica Seidner is passionate about helping others. This bubbly and energetic 4’11” tall fourth grader packs a powerful punch when she is on a giving mission. Over the past two years, she has participated in and developed ideas for five community service projects at her school. The projects included Soap for Haiti, a walk-a-thon to benefit juvenile diabetes, Pennies for Patients, a food drive, and a pet supply drive.

Seidner was inspired by her father, who often helps out neighbors and friends. Seidner believes it is important to help family, friends and people she does not know because that is the best way to improve society. “You should always help those in your community and your society who don’t have a lot of things that you always have. These projects help people and pets, and they bring us together to help each other,” she said. Thinking back on the past projects Seidner has worked on nearly brought her to tears. “It just gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside,” she added.

She developed her project ideas by reading books, searching online, and making observations within her environment. Her next plan is to develop a community service project to help abandoned horses. She has not planned out the details yet, but she looks forward to developing the idea and encouraging others to donate to the cause. “I think it’s time to help horses next.”
