Deadline arrives this Friday
HOUSTON ISD – Houston Independent School District officials remind parents that an important deadline for magnet programs arrives this week. Magnet applications must be received by Friday, January 6, 2012 for the first application period.
Parents who desire for their children to be considered in the first phase of the selection process must either deliver the application to the school of your choice by the close of school business on Friday January 6th or mail the application in time to be postmarked by January 6th.
Schools will still accept applications after January 6th; however, those applications will not be considered until the second phase of the selection process. Many magnet school programs are filled in the first phase. HISD will send notices of magnet acceptance status this spring.
Magnet schools offer a theme-based curriculum that allows students to select schools based on their expressed interests, talents, skills, or career path. A full listing of HISD magnet school options can be found at www.houstonisd.org/magnet.
