WALLER ISD THANKS SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS DURING SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH IN JANUARY

By Marianne Kosik

WALLER ISD – Waller ISD and communities across the state are celebrating School Board Recognition Month in January. Board members representing communities in Texas spend countless hours serving their school districts and receive no compensation for their efforts. Waller ISD, which encompasses over 20,000 taxpayers, 5,600 students, over 750 employees, and 8 campuses, will take this opportunity to thank our local leaders for devoting their time to support public education and for serving our Waller ISD schools.

Each Waller ISD Board of Trustee represents the school district’s motto “All About Kids”. They lead with their heart and truly care about the students and staff. They put aside their personal agenda and advocate for the community as a whole. The Waller ISD School Board of Trustees works closely with the Superintendent to carry out the goals of the district and serve as a crucial link between the Waller ISD community and the classroom. They continually focus on performance and accountability and provide the tools, i.e., policies, curriculum, technology, etc., that teachers need to engage students and to make the magic of learning occur in the classroom. The Waller ISD Board members are also Waller ISD community members and most have children attending Waller ISD schools and/or have children that have graduated from Waller High School.

The School Board Members that serve Waller ISD are: President David Kaminski who has served on the Board since 1997; Vice-President Louis Tucker who has served on the Board since 2008; Secretary Kim Parmer who has served on the Board since 2009; Bryan Lowe who has served since 1988; Shaun Nelson who has served since 2001; Michael W. Prince who has served since 2009; and newly elected Joe Landin who began his term in 2011. The district will recognize the Waller ISD Board members at the January 9th Waller ISD Regular Board Meeting.

“We are extremely fortunate to have such a cohesive group of caring citizens serving on our School Board. Our Board sacrifices their personal time each day to serve our community and schools. Even though we are making a special effort in January to show appreciation to our board members, we appreciate them every day all year-round.” said Danny Twardowski Waller ISD Superintendent. “Being a School Board member is not an easy job, but it’s certainly a rewarding one. Each member has his/her own strengths that they bring to the table that helps with strategizing long-term goals and making difficult decisions. Their decisions are always focused on the success of every student.” Twardowski said.
