FORT BEND ISD – Parks Elementary School hosted its first
Posada (a celebration of the Nativity) in December that welcomed
students, their families, and staff members for an evening of pure
entertainment. The celebration included cultural dances, musical
performances, traditional dishes (including home-made tamales and
flautas), and the breaking of piñatas.
“The Posada gave our school neighbors and families a great
opportunity to celebrate our unity and have fun, while supporting our
school,” said Rosy Martinez, fourth-grade Bilingual teacher. “We hope to
make the Posada an annual event for families to enjoy.”
Shown performing a Mexican dance are students Heber Molina, Angelica Bolanos, Sara Moreno and Angela Vergara.

Student Kenneth Byrd is shown trying to break a piñata.

Juanita Arana serves punch to Esmeralda Rodriguez.

Vanessa Tobias, Maria Elena Baltazar, Guadalupe Escobedo and Monica Cavazos helped serve tamalas to guests.
