KLEIN ISD – Klein Forest High School had 28 students receive the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification which is a nationally recognized and accredited exam through the National Restaurant Association that covers food safety topics such as sanitation, the flow of food, sanitary facilities and pest management.
“One of the greatest things to see in my classroom is the ServSafe certification wall,” said Audrey Kimich, Klein Forest home economics teacher, who helped students prepare for six weeks prior to the exam. “It reminds my student’s everyday that if they work hard and study, they can be successful at anything they put their minds to.”
ServSafe benefits students in the classroom by teaching them how to protect from food borne illnesses when preparing food for assignments and catering events. The certification offers students the opportunity to excel in the food service industry and those who pursue a career in culinary arts are eligible to receive college credit.
