HOUSTON
– Dekaney High School will honor its state championship
football team at a mini-parade and recognition rally at 6 p.m. Monday,
Jan. 23 at the campus. The Wildcats won the Texas 5A, Division 2, State
Football Championship against Cibolo Steele, 34-14, Dec. 17 at Cowboys
Stadium in Arlington.
The celebration will kick off with a parade on the Dekaney campus
from the Imperial Valley entrance to the Dekaney stadium where the rally
will be held. The Spring ISD community is invited to join Dekaney in
celebrating the district’s first state football championship. The team
will be recognized also for numerous honors, including U.S. Army
National Guard Team of the Year and Max Preps Team of the Year. Head
Coach Willie Amendola will be recognized for his selection as Texans
Coach of the Year.
