CY CREEK GOLFER SETS TOURNEY RECORD AT BLACKHORSE

CYFAIR ISD – Cypress Creek High School senior golfer Matthew Dunn set
a North Course record at BlackHorse Golf Club by shooting a 61 in an
18-hole second round to win the Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT) Q School
Challenge Jan. 7-8.

Combined with his first-round score of
74, Dunn won the event by 12 strokes with a two-round total of 135. His
masterful second round included seven birdies in a row.

“It’s a very special round for Matthew
to do something like that,” said his coach at Cypress Creek, Philip
Franklin. “I’ve watched him grow as a player, and he’s always been
really good at shooting at the flags. He’s always had the capability of
doing something special like that.”

Dunn is committed to golf for the
United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., next year.
His goal for his senior season at Cypress Creek is to advance to
regionals and eventually to state.

“I was kind of in a zone where
everything was going my way,” Dunn said of the record-breaking round.
“It was a great feeling, and everyone has been supportive in telling me
they’re proud of me.”
