DR. SUSAN BORG HONORED BY SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY

Klein ISD administrator named 2011 SHSU
Distinguished Educator

KLEIN ISD – Dr. Susan K. Borg, the Klein ISD associate
superintendent for instruction and student services, was named a 2012
Distinguished Educator of the Year as an administrator by the Sam Houston State
University (SHSU) College of Education. The award honors SHSU alumni who have
made a significant contribution to the field of education.

“We are thrilled to learn that Dr. Borg has been chosen for
this exceptional honor,” said Dr. Jim Cain, superintendent of the Klein ISD.
“Dr. Borg is amazingly dedicated to her job, is committed to the achievement of
the student as a whole, and has always gone
above and beyond what was expected. We in the Klein ISD could not be happier
for her and her achievements as she is an outstanding administrator.”

Under the leadership of Borg, the Klein ISD students have made
phenomenal academic progress which is evident by the KISD receiving Recognized
ratings for three consecutive years. Likewise, KISD has seen districtwide
improvement in TAKS test scores and steady increases in graduation completion
rates during her tenure.
She credits the influence of outstanding teachers
to directing her on the path to becoming an educator and an administrator.

“This award represents the teamwork from the talented teachers
and administrators that I have worked with over the years,” she expressed. “Additionally,
I am grateful for the education I received at Sam Houston State University,
which has helped to prepare me to excel as an educator and administrator today.”

At SHSU she earned a Master of Education in 1990 and her
doctorate in Education in 2010. Dr. Borg’s dissertation titled “Hispanic
Student Access to Advanced Placement Courses” was also recently selected to be
published in the Fall 2011 edition of Enrollment Management Journal. Her dissertation also earned the 2011 Jack
Staggs Outstanding Dissertation Award from SHSU.
