TOMBALL, TX – The Tomball Area Health Awareness Organization, Tomball Regional Medical Center, and the City of Tomball have teamed up to promote “The Day of Healthy Living in Tomball” on Sat., April 14, 2012.
The goal of the event is to increase awareness about the resources available in the Tomball area community that promote healthy family lifestyles.
The second Annual Tomball Area Health Expo at Texas Sports Medicine Center is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 14, and will showcase more than 70 exhibitors in the areas of health and wellness, fitness, nutrition, senior living, activities for children and youth, and individuals with special needs. Sponsors and Exhibitors are encouraged to register by visiting the website: www.TomballAreaHealthExpo.com. This will be a free event and open to the public.
Brief information seminars from leaders in their field are scheduled throughout the day and Expo Sponsors will be featured on the Main Stage in the Exhibit area for demonstrations, along with various groups invited from the community. Tomball Regional Medical Center will be providing health screenings and hosting round table discussions with area physicians.
In addition, the Texas Sports Medicine FIT KIDS Zone will feature local sports celebrities, sports drills and fitness testing, a host of scheduled activities for kids of all ages, including Strong Fathers Strong Families events led by Roy Wooten, executive director of Shield-Bearer.
Participating local restaurants will feature specials for “Healthy Cuisine” menu items at their establishment and offer 15 percent off of these menu items for expo attendees. The hope is to encourage families to try things they wouldn’t normally try, and eat healthier than they would normally eat.
The day will culminate with families gathering at the Depot for Second Saturday events – an evening full of special activities and a movie! “The Day of Healthy Living in Tomball” is a unique opportunity for us to work together and demonstrate to our community the value of keeping active, keeping healthy, and having fun in the great city of Tomball.
