FBISD TO HOST HIGH SCHOOL QUIZ BOWL CONTEST FEB. 2

FORT BEND ISD – The Fort Bend ISD District Student Advisory Committee (DSAC) will host the Third Annual High School Quiz Bowl Contest on Thursday, February 2, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Wheeler Field House (16403 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land). This free event will give FBISD high school students the opportunity to test their knowledge of the 2012 Diversity Conference theme, “Peace, Love and Respect.” Teams of four students (and one alternate) representing all FBISD high schools will compete in the Quiz Bowl. The winning team will be presented with the Trophy award for their school and announced as the District Championship winner at the High School Diversity Conference on February 24, 2012, at the George Ranch Historical Park.

“FBISD is committed to celebrating our diversity and promoting character development of students,” said Ilene Harper, Assistant Director of Student Support Services. “The Quiz Bowl Contest will provide students with a unique opportunity to make meaningful connections between what they study and its real-life applications. As a National School District of Character, we strive to promote student leadership opportunities in creating a community of character. This event will enhance student learning and foster shared responsibility among our community to create a safe and healthy environment.”

The community is invited to come out and support their favorite FBISD high school at this event. Admission is free. For more information, please call FBISD’s Student Support Services Department at 281-634-1131.
