WALLER ISD – Waller High School Teacher Amanda Sandlin organized a Muscular Dystrophy Association walk in November to raise awareness for MDA research and to find a cure. Muscular Dystrophy is a devastating disease that deteriorates the muscles in the body, including the heart muscle. Sandlin organized the walk in honor of Waller High School students David Gonzalez and Jessica Snow. A heartfelt brief video presentation was played of the walk with photographs of David and Jessica leading the group. Army Sgt. Sean Mains and Team Army raised $1,000, and he arranged for Northwest Dodge to match the funds.
The group’s goal was to raise $3,000 for MDA, and they surpassed it by raising $5,368.25.
Jessica and David’s courage is strong and their outlook on life is positive, even though they face adversity each day of their lives. Waller ISD Superintendent Danny Twardowski said, “Waller ISD is fortunate to have Jessica and David in our schools. They are great role models for all of us.”
