ASSIST NEWS SERVICE RECEIVES ‘PASSION FOR THE PERSECUTED’ AWARD FROM OPEN DOORS USA

SANTA ANA, CA
- Open Doors USA
has awarded the fourth annual “Passion for the Persecuted” to the
ASSIST News Service. The award is
presented to a media organization which has established an on-going commitment
to inform its readers/listeners/viewers about the plight of persecuted
Christians around the world.

ASSIST News is a Christian news service which helps
publications like The Cypress Times gain access to news and information from
around the world. In the secular news world
networks, newspapers, local TV and radio stations rely on the Associated Press
as their ‘newswire”. In the world of Christian
news many rely on ASSIST News.

The Cypress Times is able to bring news from around the world to its readers
due in large part to our association with ASSIST News.

Founded by Dan Wooding in 1989 ASSIST (which stands for Aid to Special
Saints in Strategic Times) – www.assistnews.net
– is based in Lake Forest, California.
ASSIST New Service is the daily news service that sends news, features
and opinion articles to 2,600 media outlets around the world.

Readers of The Cypress Times have the opportunity daily to learn more about
what is happening around the world due to great writers like Dan Wooding, Michael
Ireland
, Jeremy Reynalds all of whom come to us through the amazing efforts of the
ASSIST News team.

In my opinion, ASSIST News is leading the way in reporting on the ongoing
and ever growing persecution of Christians around the world. While secular media ignores the plight of
Christians who are dying for their faith ASSIST News is bringing that information
to you daily.

Open Doors USA President/CEO Dr. Carl Moeller states in a press release: “ASSIST News
Service has been faithfully spreading news about Christian persecution and
suffering for many years. It continues to be a prominent news source in the
Christian community and we are very thankful for their partnership in helping
persecuted Christians. This agency is very deserving of this award.”

Upon hearing of the “Passion for the Persecuted”
award, international journalist, Dan Wooding, said, “This is wonderful
news for our team of writers from around the world, many of whom risk their
lives to bring us news about the Persecuted Church.”

“I have worked with Open Doors, first as a consultant and later with
them on their many stories, for almost 30 years, and it has been a privilege to
report on global Christian persecution,” adds Wooding. “I have
traveled to numerous countries where Christians face persecution and it is
wonderful to report on an organization which helps these Christians.”

Past recipients of this award include, Moody Radio, Mission
Network News and The Christian Post.

Open Doors USA will present a plaque to Wooding at the National Religious
Broadcasters Convention at the Gaylord Opryland Resort on Monday, Feb. 20, in
Nashville.
