CYFAIR ISD — All 10 CFISD high schools’ football and basketball programs will retain their University Interscholastic League (UIL) district from the previous realignment that brought them into District 17-5A in 2010.
The UIL released its biannual district realignment at 9 a.m. on Thursday, keeping Cypress Creek, Cy-Fair, Cypress Falls, Cypress Lakes, Cypress Ranch, Cypress Ridge, Cypress Springs, Cypress Woods, Jersey Village and Langham Creek high schools as the 10 representatives in District 17-5A.
The district remains in Region III with all Houston-area representatives. CFISD’s bi-district playoff opponents will also remain the same in District 18-5A—a seven-team district featuring Alief Elsik, Alief Hastings, Alief Taylor, Aldine, Aldine Eisenhower, Aldine MacArthur and Aldine Nimitz.
“We are thrilled with the UIL’s decision to retain our existing district in Region III,” said Larry Peil, CFISD director of athletics. “Our postseason travel time and expenses are greatly reduced by competing with other Houston-area opponents, and we look forward to keeping those friendly rivalries in tact for another two years.”
