H-E-B AND BLACK PROFESSIONAL COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS ASSOCIATION HOST 13th ANNUAL “HERITAGE DAY” CELEBRATION

In celebration of African-American Heritage, the event will raise money for the BPCCA Scholarship Fund

HOUSTON – In observance of Black History Month, H-E-B and the Black Professional Cowboys & Cowgirls Association (BPCCA) will host the 13th annual “Heritage Day”, an event celebrating black history. The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 from noon to 10:00 p.m. at the Humble Civic Arena. This family-friendly experience will feature the largest black rodeo in the Houston area, entertainment and delicious Southern cuisine. Proceeds from the event will benefit the BPCCA Scholarship Fund.

“We look forward to the Heritage Day celebration every year as one of the many ways we seek to support and recognize the contributions of the African American community in Houston,” said Dwight Judge, President of BPCCA. “This event raises money for our scholarship fund, which supports future community leaders by aiding them in their pursuit of higher education while uniting the community in a fun and family-friendly environment.”

“Heritage Day” events and entertainment include the “Black Heritage Day Rodeo”, as well as performances by DJ Jamming J and Keith Frank & the Soileau Zydeco Band. A large “Kid Zone,” complete with a petting zoo, Veggie Pals, bounce houses, games and rides will be available for children and families to enjoy. Food and drinks will be available for attendees.

“H-E-B is honored to once again serve as a title sponsor of the Heritage Day celebration. H-E-B and Heritage Day both support the educational development of future leaders in the African-American community while recognizing the awards and achievements of community leaders,” said James Harris, Director of Supplier Diversity for H-E-B. “H-E-B takes great pride in being actively involved in the communities we serve and developing relationships with our customers. “Heritage Day” is a great example of our efforts to continually cultivate community relationships.”

The BPCCA was founded in 1999 and serves to create awareness and recognition for African-American men and women who have made significant contributions in the African-American community. In 2011, the BPCCA awarded eleven college scholarships to Houston-area youth.
