HOUSTON, TX – Students in Harris County Department of Education programs are busy jumping, catching, throwing and running as they benefit from a donation of 300 youth sports equipment items donated by Sports Authority.
The gifted soccer balls, footballs, kick balls, horseshoe sets, Frisbees, jump ropes and basketballs are valued at $3,600. They were distributed within Harris County Department of Education’s 17 Head Start centers; four schools for at-risk students with special needs and behavior issues; and several after-school programs.
“Recreational activity is important to the mental and physical well-being of children,” said Celes Harris, assistant county school superintendent for HCDE. “We are grateful for this generous gift and for this community partnership with Sports Authority.”
