Reverses decision to cut off abortion funds
Controversy has swirled around the fact that the
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, which fights for the prevention of
breast cancer, has been funding Planned Parenthood abortion clinics with funds
collected from supporters.
On Tuesday of this week, Susan G. Komen cut off $680,000
in funding to 19 abortion clinics run by Planned Parenthood. The
foundation had said the move was made because of a recent policy change that
prohibited funding of organizations that are under investigation – like Planned
Parenthood.
Rep. Cliff Stearns is leading a Congressional
investigation into Planned Parenthood affiliates to see if they are receiving
federal funds to perform abortions.
Left-wingers went crazy –
A letter from 26 pro-abortion Democratic Senators was
sent to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation president and founder Nancy
Brinker urging her to keep fueling the Planned Parenthood abortion mills.
Brinker not only agreed, but apologized to Planned
Parenthood and the American public; no apology to the aborted babies.
“We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast
doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women’s lives,” Brinker said
in a statement released today.
Apparently Brinker assumes that all aborted babies are male.
“We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our
funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize
Planned Parenthood. They were not.”
Brinker continued, “Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to
our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under
investigation. We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying
investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political.
That is what is right and fair.”
Planned Parenthood responded with a statement from its leader, Cecile
Richards, “In recent weeks, the treasured relationship between the Susan G.
Komen for the Cure Foundation and Planned Parenthood has been challenged, and
we are now heartened that we can continue to work in partnership toward our
shared commitment to breast health for the most underserved women.”
Planned Parenthood apparently also assumes they only kill little boys.
Karen Malec, president of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer issued a
statement reading, “Planned Parenthood does not do mammograms and doesn’t offer
breast cancer treatment. Planned Parenthood is fundamentally an abortion
business that provides manual breast exams and refers women elsewhere for
mammograms, thereby delaying breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.”
“Planned Parenthood causes breast cancer by selling women
cancer-causing abortions and oral contraceptives (the pill), which the World
Health Organization includes on its list of the most cancer-causing substances
known to mankind (Group 1 carcinogens). [1] What’s the bottom line? Planned Parenthood
hurts women’s health. Komen was right to halt funding for Planned Parenthood,”
Malec said.
“Medical texts say having more children, starting at a younger age and
breast feeding them longer helps prevent breast cancer. Let me spell it out for
you, senators,” said Malec. “Planned Parenthood robs women of the
protective effect of childbearing.”
While few
have come to the aid of the unborn in this scenario, many have stood up for
Planned Parenthood. Aside from the 26 Democratic Senators, several members of
the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation resigned when the funding was halted
to Planned Parenthood.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave Planned Parenthood $250,000 and
promised to give $1 for every dollar Planned Parenthood raises up to $250,000. Oil
millionaire Lee Fikes of Bonanza Oil out of Dallas and his wife also gave
Planned Parenthood $250,000. Fikes has
been a frequent supporter of left-wing politics.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation found out the hard way that standing
up in any way, shape or form – intentionally or not – for the unborn in this
country will result in a crazed and rabid response for the left. The most dangerous places to be in America is in your mother’s womb, between a Democrat and other people’s money or between a Democrat and a baby that they feel should be killed.
The people at the Susan G. Komen
for the Cure Foundation and at Planned Parenthood realize they do abort little
girls, so maybe the left-wing can sell abortion as the ultimate cure for breast cancer.
Planned Parenthood performs more than
300,000 abortions every year in the United States, with the largest Planned
Parenthood facility in the world being right here in Houston.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control,
since 1973 the number one cause of death among African-Americans is abortion.
More than 13 million blacks have been killed by abortion.
Planned Parenthood alone kills an average of
910 babies per day, 38 per hour, one every 95 seconds.
