SUPER BOWL SUNDAY: PREVIEWS, MOVIE STARS, THE TODAY SHOW, MUSIC STARS, BIG TIME ADS AND EVENTUALLY A FOOTBALL GAME

When you think football you think Seinfeld, Madonna, Matt Lauer
and Obama….right?

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – It’s Super Bowl Sunday and undoubtedly
you can find something related to the Big Game just about anywhere you look
today. It will warrant mention in
churches across the USA. The television industry
is in a frenzy for the big game and to
pull you in. Over 111 million people watched last when….when….you know those
two teams played and that one became the champs.

Super markets will be packed this morning with
greedy grub grabbing suburbanites getting everything that one simply must have
for a proper Super Bowl party. The big
time pre-game show kicks off at 10 am on NBC today, and everyone who works for
NBC will get into the act, even the early morning TODAY Show, because when you
think football you think the TODAY Show.

Since the big game is on NBC, expect to see
struggling Peacock Network pull out all the stops all day long to promote not
just the game that will be played somewhere along the way, but its shows, its
stars and on and on and on.

America, get ready to see Bob Costas way more times
today than anyone should ever have to suffer.

SBNation.com breaks down some of the stuff that will
fill the entire day on NBC. Bob Costas
(told you) interviews Tom Brady. Dan Patrick interviews Eli Manning. Tony Dungy
interview NY Giants head coach Tom Coughlin and Victor Cruz. Rodney Harrison interviews Bill Belichick and
Aaron Hernandez. Al Michaels interviews Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and with so
much time to fill, today maybe Michaels and Kraft will be able to talk both
football and cheese.

More interviews will be conducted by Doug Flutie,
Cris Colinsworth and the Geraldo of the NFL, Randy Moss (an intrepid reporter
if ever there was one). You’ll get up
close and personal player profiles for, well, just name a player, you’ll learn
more about him.

Don’t worry; it won’t be all about the game
today.

No, Bob Costas (see!) will interview David Tyree
about the game played between the Giants and Patriots five years ago. The “Helmet Catch” from Super Bowl XLII, Tyree’s
last grab in the NFL will be shown maybe more times than Bob Costas.

You’ll get a recap of the season and how each of
these two teams made it to the Super Bowl. Since 30 teams didn’t make it,
chances are these recaps will provide some painful memories from your favorite
team. (Don’t say Texans).

Of course it wouldn’t be football without that
grid-iron great President Barack Obama. Prior
to the football game Matt Laurer and Barack Obama will play some softball from
the White House. It’s all part of the NFL tradition known as the TODAY Show.

Whew, I was afraid I might get through a day without
seeing Obama on television. Just please
don’t ever do this again.

The Prez really jumped in there and snagged that
pass from all those little kids.

Don’t forget the super stars of the game. No, not those guys in the uniforms. I’m talking
Nick Cannon, Adam Sandler, Danny DeVito, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Blake
Shelton, Katherine McPhee – pretty much all of whom have an old show or a new
show on NBC.

Then we’re down to the playing….music. Lenny Kravitz and The Fray will perform at
the official NFL Super Bowl XLVI Tailgate Party.

And what’s tailgating without great food? Top Chef will be on hand with former
contestants (I know, how cool) competing to create the perfect tailgating food. It’s called meat. Slap it on a grill and wash
it down with a beer. Perfection. Move along.

But it’s really all about the purity of the game
itself, and the $3.5 million dollars per 30-second ad commercial. Yes, the ads.

Seinfeld is back for the Super Bowl. Here’s the extended version of the much
talked about Acura ad.

And the Super Bowl clamor for attention even resurrects
Ferris Bueller. Extended version follows.

Somewhere along the way, today’s game will be
presented to TV audiences like a Madonna filled-donut, and football fans will
see two really good NFL teams square off in what should be a great game.

I like the Giants in a high-scoring affair, 34 to
31.

Another Manning will have a great day in
Indianapolis.
