HOUSTON, TX — The 2012 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan Contests were held Jan. 27 – 28 at The Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas. Competitors from the Houston Metro Go Texan areas and Area Go Texan counties participated in team penning, team sorting, washer pitching, dominoes and horseshoe pitching contests.

Team Penning

Junior Division

Grand Champion: Allen Williamson, Gabby Delauri and Brooke Morgan — Houston Metro Go Texan, Baytown/Highlands

Second Place: Kendall Baumbach, Cody Wallin and Tim Beken — Area Go Texan, Colorado County

Third Place: Frank Pelzel, Rickey Scurlock and Joshua Faske — Area Go Texan, Washington Country

Senior Division

Grand Champion: Byron Underwood, Grady Underwood and Justin Underwood — Area Go Texan, Cherokee Country

Quilts

Houston Metro Go Texan and Area Go Texan committees entered colorful and unique quilts constructed within the geographical boundaries of the Go Texan areas they represent. Each quilt is judged based on overall appearance, workmanship, suitability/color, originality and design. All 65 quilts entered will be on display during the run of the Show, Feb. 28 – March 18, in Shell Show Pride! in the lobby of Reliant Center.
