351ST GRAND JURY DECLINES TO INDICT HARRIS COUNTY PRECINCT 7 CONSTABLE MAY WALKER

HOUSTON – Members of the 351st grand jury chose not
to indict Harris County Precinct Seven Constable May Walker today, regarding
alleged campaign finance improprieties for which she was the subject of an
investigation by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Steven Morris, Chief of the District Attorney’s
Government Integrity Bureau, said, “Although I cannot reveal the
proceedings of the grand jury, I can say that they heard all available
evidence, reviewed the applicable laws, and carefully considered their
options.”

Harris County District Attorney Pat Lykos, said “Prosecutors
and investigators exhaustively gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses. I
commend them for their diligence and professionalism. Our system of justice
involves many checks and balances. We respect the integrity of the process and
the decisions made by grand jurors.”
