New Publication Chronicles History, Enforcement of Landmark Supreme Court Ruling for Immigrant Children
HOUSTON, TX – Thirty years after Plyer vs. Doe, the landmark Supreme Court ruling making it possible for undocumented children to enroll in Texas public schools, the issue of immigrant rights continues to draw controversy. Now, a new book by University of Houston Law Center Professor Michael A. Olivas—“No Undocumented Child Left Behind”—examines the history of the groundbreaking case and how it has, and has not, served its intended purpose.
“I wanted to research how the case had held up over the last three decades, and the more I dug, the more I was drawn to its narrative arc,” Olivas said. “Innocent children brought to a new country, where their families lived in the shadows. It’s very compelling.”
In his book, Olivas notes how the ruling suffers from implementation issues and often requires more litigation to enforce. He also examines debate centered on the Development, Release and Education for Minors (DREAM) Act that would provide conditional citizenship to undocumented college students who graduated from U.S. high schools and have been in the country for at least five years.
“I wanted to draw attention to the important issues of incorporation, the strains in U.S. policy and the breathtaking and unrelenting meanness of those who are fighting this 30 years later,” he said. “The decision was the best our country has to offer—compassion, a fierce belief in reducing inequality, and political and personal courage.”
Olivas is the William B. Bates Distinguished Chair of Law and a national expert on immigration law. He also directs the UH Law Center’s Institute of Higher Education Law and Governance.

Nothing should be left to chance, especially relating to the illegal migrant and immigration invasion. It seems that according to the “Rule of Law’ they can enter America with little hindrance, and cannot be criminally held accountable? This has caused a giant in surge of people encouraged by lenient policies in the last two decades as there is no strict punishment for wrongdoers? Then according to the federal courts they cannot be prosecuted for a felony, even though they violated this law? It seems simply nonsensical that U.S courts say that if you didn’t know that using a fabricated Social Security number, it is not a violation?
Yesterday the federal court comes to a decision in Fremont, Nebraska that will also influence the other 49 states, that Americans are violating a illegal foreign nationals rights, if you don’t rent or lease them a property? So in other words America is haunted by illogical unfunded mandates, that illegal aliens by the tens of millions have come here and there is not retribution? That we must feed them, house them and we cannot complain when they put their children in our schools, overcrowd our emergency rooms and pay for a nice warm prison cell for the criminals? We have no relief from this gross madness, because the courts say so. We are taxed to pay for the babies smuggled in their Mother’s womb, so we must pay extra taxes for their well being, even though both parents were non citizens. Isn’t this what the Revolutionary war was about, taxation without representation?
Then we have President Obama and his socialist Czars, offering a free Amnesty to any illegal alien who doesn’t have a felony. But surely if you stole some citizen’s personal ID including a Social Security card, is that not a FELONY? In my book, if I stole some individuals Social Security number, wouldn’t I be looking for a defense attorney? Yet Obama has used some presidential order of clemency, even if you fraudulently acquired somebody’s social Security number. This is especially wide spread across the country, by obtaining the SSN of infants, who don’t even know they are a victim?
The States of Arizona, Alabama, Georgia, Utah, Indiana and South Carolina is being financially crippled by the illegal alien invaders, it is undeniable that something smells of government corruption, but it will never retreat without a overhaul of Washington.
Every taxpaying American needs to hold accountable every lawmaker who doesn’t co-sponsor the Legal Workforce Act, (H.R. 2885). that mandates E-Verify for every single U.S. business and corporation within the jurisdiction of the United States, to stop foreign nationals taking American jobs.
Rep.Lamar Smith cites a Rasmussen poll which found that 82% of likely voters think all businesses should be required to use E-Verify. To complete this process, the “Birthright Citizenship Act must be enforced nationwide.
The Birthright Citizenship Amendment (H.R.140), needs also requires passage in the Congress, to amend the 14th Amendment so no child can be eligible for citizenship, unless a parent is a citizen themselves? Go and study the massive amounts of money extracted from us, annually to pay for all these unfair benefits. These are all unfunded mandates ordered by the courts which are not just millions of your dollars, but a hundred billion dollars and rising. This money could go towards reducing the near 16 trillion debts that both parties have created, by accommodating illegal aliens, of which politicians remain grossly indifferent to accomplishing the right thing as strict enforcement.
Americans are sitting ducks to keep paying more taxes for foreign national, having entered this country illegally. It seems like citizenship has lost its value in the eyes of policy makers as it seems illegal aliens have more rights than citizens? Under Obama’s rule, the Democrats lead by the far left, would overhaul our election system so foreigners could vote. Even as I blog this, there is ample evidence of voter fraud throughout this nation. But the fed’s do not seem to care and have ascertained it as minimal. foreigners are allowed to demonstrate in our streets, with no appearance of ICE agents. The poor from other countries keep on coming by plane or our fiasco of a closed border intrusion. Send the troops back from IRAN a job and deploy them throughout the border region, to stop these incursions of gun and drug peddlers, human trafficking and as we know now murderers from the Middle East?
Give all the pro-illegal immigrants politicians the boot, and add pariah governors, Mayors, and the followers of this sickening agenda. If we just sit back any longer our country will be lost in 2012, as will be paying even larger taxes for illegal aliens added in ObamaCare, as even more millions who will quickly respond to this socialized medicine epidemic. Not only will some loophole be open for foreigners to slip through, but we will also be paying for our own worthless crowds, who have no intention of filling a job; who are already living of welfare and public assistance.
Stop this travesty of our laws, which is sucking the dollars from us to pamper illegal aliens for votes? They do vote and will again? Don’t forget to call your Senator or Representative at 202-224-3121. Don’t forget to give your state incumbent lawmakers a challenge of NO RE-ELECTION VOTE, if they are anti-Sovereignty? We are a caring people, but Americans must come first and any lawmaker who represents the illegal immigrant, must be kicked out of office.
