HISD District IX Trustee Larry Marshall to Deliver Remarks at School Dedication
HOUSTON ISD – Administrators, staff and students will be joined by HISD Board of Education Trustee Larry Marshall during the official dedicatory ceremony for the new Robert B. Frost Elementary Magnet School for Space Science on Thursday, February 23 at 10 a.m. at the new campus, 5002 Almeda Genoa Road.
“We are delighted to welcome friends of the Frost school community into our new home,” said Frost Principal David Terrell. “I’m proud to witness students learning on this campus daily. We pride ourselves in having a campus that is colorful and modern, features a brand new library and an eco-friendly building that consumes less energy than most campuses.”
The new Frost facility is built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards and is projected to have a 21% savings in energy use. The district has committed to build all new construction projects to LEED standards.
The $805 million bond referendum approved by voters in 2007 made the project possible. The new school includes:
New library;
New science labs;
New computer lab; and
Smart Board technology in all classrooms.
“Every student deserves a school like this one,” Marshall said. “This kind of facility helps our teachers achieve instructional goals by ensuring that all students are learning in classrooms with energy efficient features, current technology, and improved indoor air quality.”
