Santorum should expect vicious attacks from CNN/liberal media in debate
A perfect storm will blow bitter wind upon Rick Santorum tonight in the CNN debate. The former Pennsylvania Senator is now the frontrunner and he has dared to take a stand in the past weeks that will allow liberals to portray him as a “God lover.”
A new Gallup poll shows Santorum out in front by double digits. Have conservatives begun to coalesce behind Santorum or is this yet another
example of the fickle game of musical chairs that Republican voters have played
with the top spot in this primary race?
In a Gallup poll taken on February 6, Mitt Romney led Rick Santorum by more
than 20 points; the poll conducted between February 15 and 19th now
shows Romney trailing Santorum by 10 points, representing a 30 point swing.
Santorum now leads with 36 percent of the overall vote, while Romney comes in at
26%. Former Speaker of the House Newt
Gingrich has dropped to just 13% and Ron Paul now stands at 11%. The Santorum
surge came on the heels of his upset victories in Minnesota, Colorado and
Missouri, and his bold stand against Barack Obama’s slap against Freedom of Religion.
The false narrative perpetrated by the media, the GOP elites and the Obama
Administration that “only Romney can win in November” continues to resonate
with voters who say they believe Romney has a better chance of beating
Obama. 58% say Romney can win while only
32% say Santorum could take the White House.
Meanwhile a new Rasmussen Poll shows both Santorum and Romney in a statistical
tie with Obama.
Debate number 7,000 or so takes place tonight as the GOP hopefuls compete
for votes in upcoming primaries in both Arizona and Michigan. CNN will carry the debate. Expect to see the liberal media gang up on
Santorum for what they are calling the former Senator’s stance against
contraception.
In truth, Santorum is a devout Catholic and he follows the teachings of the
Catholic Church in his attitudes toward contraception. The issue only made headlines after Barack
Obama, the man sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America
“So help me God,” attempted to do away with Freedom of Religion by forcing Catholic
and other faith-based organizations to provide free contraceptives, abortifents
and even sterilizations.
Lost in the media stampede to indict Catholics and Evangelicals opposed to such measures was the violation of the Constitution and the fact that other faith-based organizations who oppose the same measures would be affected, too – like Muslim Organizations, for example.
Santorum’s stand was the right stand, regardless of how he or anyone else feels
about contraceptives.
Santorum was
defending the Constitution and the Freedom of Religion, something the president is bound to do by his
oath of office, but has instead sought ways around, over and under the
Constitution.
The liberal media will push the debate tonight toward a narrative that says “Santorum
is out of touch, behind the times, not
in step with society today.” They will
attempt to paint Santorum as a religious zealot, moreover as a Catholic zealot,
in an attempt to turn away even conservative protestant Christians.
The truth is that Santorum is a devout man of faith, and today
that does make him out of step with society, and rightly so. All Christians are called to be in the world
and not of the world. In order to serve our
God and Savior, we must be in step with Him and out of step with society.
Christians should see in Santorum a man who lives his beliefs regardless of
how he is attacked or mischaracterized by the media, even on the world stage. Santorum’s life should stand in stark
contrast to Mitt Romney whose history shows a man for whom it could be said “there
is no there there” and it should stand in stark contrast to Barack Obama, a man who claims Christianity, but denies it daily in all his actions.
The liberal media has no respect for faith, and that lack of respect will be
on full display tonight as CNN goes after Santorum, his beliefs and, by
extension, God.
To the elites of the media, Christianity and the belief in Christ, are foolish,
but then for those of us who read our Bibles, we already knew that.
1 Corinthians 1: 18-19
“For the message of the cross is
foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the
power of God. For it is written:
‘I will destroy the wisdom of the
wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate’.”
1 Corinthians 2: 10 -16
“The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their
own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except
the Spirit of God. What we have received
is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may
understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us
by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual
realities with Spirit-taught words.
The person without the Spirit does
not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them
foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through
the Spirit. The person with the Spirit
makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely
human judgments, for,
‘Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?’
But we have the mind of Christ.”
