up as
pirates, learn pirate lingo, go on a treasure hunt and make pirate

Houston Christian High School senior Drew Earnest was
elected as
a "mock" Texas Railroad Commissioner during the week-long
American
Legion Boy’s State program held in Austin on June 5-11, 2010.
Drew
executed a successful campaign among his nearly 800 fellow delegates
from
across the Great State of Texas in order to win his House seat.
In
addition to being elected to head the railroad commission, Drew
was selected as
a county delegate and passed the mock state bar
exam.
H.P.A.R.D.’s After School Achievement Program (A.S.A.P.) was awarded an $80,000 State Criminal Justice Planning (421) FundGrant from the Governor’s Office of Criminal Justice on September 1, 2010. This grant funding will allow A.S.A.P. to fund an additional three after school program sites in the area and positively impact at risk students.

HOUSTON– H-E-B will honor our nation’s firefighters for their dedication and selfless service with the sixth annual company-wide volunteer program Helping Heroes on Friday, Sept. 10. More than 375 H-E-B Partners (employees) from70 H-E-B stores in greater Houston, as well as warehouse facilities, will visit local fire stations to serve lunch to firefighters and help with around-the-station chores. As part of this program, H-E-B will adopt 128 fire stations throughout the city.

HOUSTON, TX –Children need a lot of supplies when they go back to school. From pens, pencils and crayons, to paper, erasers and backpacks, the Auxiliary at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital recently donated dozens of these items and other necessities to Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) to help area children as they head back to the classroom. This is the second year the hospital Auxiliary has donated school supplies to CAM as part of their commitment to education. The Auxiliary also uses gift shop proceeds to award scholarships to deserving high school students pursuing careers in health care.
